Artist's Description

The Rudolfinum is a music auditorium and one of the most important neo-renaissance buildings in Prague. It is situated at Jan Palach Square on the bank of the river Vltava. For many decades it has been the home-stage of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and one of the main venues for the Prague Spring International Music Festival held each year in May and June. The building was designed by architect Josef Zítek and his student Josef Schulz, and was opened February 8, 1885. It is named in honour of Rudolf, Crown Prince of Austria, who presided over the opening. Dvorak Hall in the Rudolfinum, one of the oldest concert halls in Europe, is famous for its acoustics. On 4 January 1896 the Czech Philharmonic’s very first concert took place here conducted by Antonín Dvořák. The building also contains the Galerie Rudolfinum, an important Art Gallery that focuses mainly on contemporary art.

About Brenda Kean

Brenda Kean

I have been a travel photographer for the past 30 years selling my work via photo libraries. I would welcome any comments you might wish to make about the choice I have made of images to submit to Fineartamerica. Photography has been my passion for 30 years and I also teach it to pass on my knowledge to the next generation. I get the greatest buzz to think that long after I depart this life, my work may still be earning an income for my great great grandchildren. To me that is a sort of immortality. For free slideshows of some of my trips please see my website at www.brenda-kean.pixels.com, or at https://www.instagram.com/quasarphotos . If you see something you like tell me and I will put it up on Fineartamerica for you to buy PLEASE...
