Description
Desert View Watchtower was built in 1932 and is one of Mary Jane Colter's best-known works. Situated at the South Rim, the tower sits on a 7,400 foot (2,256 m) promontory. It offers one of the few views of the bottom of the Canyon and the Colorado River. It is designed to mimic an Anasazi watchtower. The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided gorge carved by the Colorado River in the U.S. state of Arizona.
